Rat pack crooner Frank Sinatra is not the only person to promote the virtues of America’s “windy city” in song. The ultimate accolade probably came from architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who said: “Eventually, I think Chicago will be the most beautiful great city left in the world.”

However, forget other people’s views. It’s time to see for yourself why Chicago makes a great alternative to visiting the tourism hot spots of New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Washington. It’s a good thing that an ESTA lasts you two years too, as you may not be able to fit everything into just one visit!

Here are just three of the many reasons to put Chicago on your USA to do list.

Energy and options

There are few USA cities with the same buzz as Chicago, but also the same variety of experiences.

Soak up the energy and vitality of Downtown Chicago and its 46 historic districts, or rest on the 26 beaches in Chicago. Wander the banks of Lake Michigan or meander pathways along the river. You can even jump on a bike to safely navigate 18 miles of lakefront trails. You’re not short of green space either, as Chicago has 8,100 acres of it, and a truly impressive 580 parks.

The nightlife includes top comedy clubs, abundant live music venues, fine dining but also a rich tapestry of ethnic neighbourhood eateries reflecting the huge cultural mix here.

Look up, look down

Chicago offers you a feast for the eyes too. Not just Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural legacy, but also more modern feats of engineering excellence.

The skyline of Chicago is unrivalled and includes the Wrigley Building, Willis Tower and Trump International Hotel. Test your comfort zone with stunning city views on The Ledge (Skydeck Chicago) or by trying the TILT experience at 360° CHICAGO (formerly known as the John Hancock Observatory).

Exercise your mind

The list of tourist attractions in Chicago is extensive, including 60 museums. One of the highlights is the world famous Art Institute of Chicago, as well as the magnificent Shedd Aquarium and the fascinating Adler Planetarium. Fancy exploring the biggest science museum in the Western Hemisphere? It’s Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry. For fun, shows and shopping, Navy Pier is also unmissable.

Don’t delay a minute longer. Apply for your ESTA here and book that flight to the awe-inspiring O Hare Airport. Chicago: let the adventures begin.
